Sean McCormick

Coach Sean is an Edmonds native and proud parent of two young BJJ athletes at Gracie Barra Edmonds. In addition to helping coach kids’ jiu-jitsu, Sean is also a professional coach and consultant for entrepreneurs and executives. He also coaches soccer and basketball, bringing high energy, enthusiasm, and always a dad joke or two to the mats.

Coach Sean has been training and competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for 3.5 years. Before starting BJJ, he played college soccer at Western Washington University and wrestled as a kid. He quickly fell in love with jiu-jitsu and especially appreciates the personal development side of the sport, as well as the long-term journey of improving in the martial art.

At GBE, Coach Sean usually helps with the big kids’ classes. He enjoys helping students push themselves while developing their bodies, minds, and spirits through jiu-jitsu. New parents and students should know that Coach Sean is passionate, encouraging, and always ready to support kids as they grow on and off the mats.

One of his favorite things to see when a child starts their BJJ journey is the subtle shift in confidence and fortitude. That growth in independence off the mats can come as a surprise to parents, and it’s one of the most awesome parts of watching kids train.
