What Is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art based on leverage, technique, timing, and problem-solving. Students learn how to control positions, protect themselves, and respond calmly under pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need previous martial arts experience?

No. Beginners are welcome in our programs, and our instructors will guide you through the fundamentals at an appropriate pace.

Can I try a class before enrolling?

Yes. New students are invited to schedule a free trial class so they can meet the team and experience the program before joining.

What should I wear to my first class?

Wear a fitted athletic shirt with shorts or leggings that do not have pockets, zippers, or sharp pieces. A loaner Gi may be available; please contact us before class so we can prepare the appropriate size.

Do you have classes for complete beginners?

Yes. Our structured curriculum is designed to help new students build a strong foundation while allowing experienced students to continue progressing.

Can families train at the academy together?

Yes. We offer programs for children and adults, and family membership options may be available for households enrolling more than one student.

Where is the academy located?

We are located at 201 5th Ave S, Suite 208, in downtown Edmonds near 5th and Maple, next to Barre3. Enter the building and follow the hallway signs to Suite 208.
