Beginner Friendly

GB1 Fundamentals

The ideal starting point for new students. GB1 introduces essential movements, positions, escapes, controls, submissions, and practical self-defense in a structured and supportive environment.

Morning, noon, and evening classes available

Advanced Training

GB2 Advanced Jiu-Jitsu

Build upon your fundamentals through advanced techniques, combinations, positional awareness, strategic drilling, and live sparring. Instructor approval may be required.

Advanced sparring follows select adult classes

No-Gi & Competition

No-Gi and Competition Training

Develop movement, wrestling, takedowns, positional control, speed, and technique without the traditional Gi. Competition training reinforces the week’s curriculum at a more challenging pace.

No-Gi classes are held Tuesday and Thursday.

Getting Started

What to Bring to the First Class

We make your first visit simple so you can focus on learning, moving, and meeting the team.

Water Bottle

Bring a water bottle so you can stay hydrated during class.

Activewear

Wear a fitted athletic shirt with shorts or leggings without pockets, zippers, or sharp pieces.

Slip-On Shoes

Slides or sandals are easy to remove and help us keep the mats clean.

Positive Attitude

It is normal to feel nervous. Our coaches will help you participate at a comfortable pace.

A loaner Gi may be available for your trial class.
Please contact us before class so we can prepare the appropriate size.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need previous experience?

No. Beginners are welcome, and our instructors will help you learn the fundamentals at an appropriate pace.

Do I need to be in shape before starting?

No. You can begin at your current fitness level and gradually build strength, endurance, and mobility through training.

Will I have to spar during my first class?

No. New students begin with instruction and controlled drilling. Live sparring is introduced when you and the instructor determine that you are ready.

What is the difference between Gi and No-Gi?

Gi Jiu-Jitsu is practiced in the traditional uniform and includes grips using the material. No-Gi is practiced in a rashguard and grappling shorts or leggings without using clothing grips.

How often should I attend?

Two or three classes per week is a great starting point for consistent progress, but you can choose the schedule that works best for you.

Are private lessons available?

Yes. Private lessons may be scheduled based on instructor availability. Contact the academy to discuss your goals.

Can I try a class before enrolling?

Yes! You are welcome to try a free class. No appointment is required—simply complete our online visitor waiver, choose a class from our schedule, and arrive 5–10 minutes early.

Do I need to book a group class?

No. Regular group classes do not require advance booking. Booking is only required for private lessons.

Do you offer family rates?

Yes. Family rates may be available for households enrolling more than one student. Contact us for current membership options.
