Coach Jacklyn started training jiu-jitsu in 2018 after overcoming an illness. Jiu-jitsu had been on her mind for a long time, and she felt it was finally time to find something for herself. What started as a hobby quickly became something much more meaningful in her life. As a mom of two, Coach Jacklyn loves helping with the kids’ classes and sometimes leading them as well. She also leads the women’s only class, where she enjoys helping women and girls feel more confident and comfortable on the mats. Her two kids also train in jiu-jitsu and wrestling, and watching their dedication has motivated her to start wrestling as well.

What Coach Jacklyn enjoys most about training is spending time with friends on the mats, meeting new people, and continuing to challenge herself. What she enjoys most about coaching is watching each student’s progress grow with every practice. She believes that every effort a student puts in gives them a chance to get better, even if they do not notice it right away.

One thing Coach Jacklyn wants parents to know is that she loves encouraging and challenging their kids in a positive way. Whether it is their first day and they feel nervous stepping onto the mats, or they are learning how to push through something difficult, she will be there to help them every step of the way. For new students, she wants them to know that she is their cheerleader, someone who will encourage them, boost their confidence, and help lift their morale. Jiu-jitsu does not come overnight. It takes days of training, patience, challenges, and perseverance. Over time, she hopes parents see their child building confidence, resilience, and the ability to keep trying even when something feels difficult.
